The AutoCoding Systems – Code
Deployment system (CDS) is a low-end
entry-level code management system. It
includes the same technical
administration module and database as a
full AutoCoding system (ACS) and is
based on module sharing with the bigger
AutoCoding system.
The Code Deployment System resides on a central PC and will from there communicate directly with the devices on a line. The system is available as an entry-level system designed for a later seamless upgrade to the full AutoCoding system. It is typically deployed where budgetary constraints necessitate a two-stage commissioning of first the central technical administration function and later the integration scope at both business and line level.
AutoCoding systems do not recommend the CDS as anything other than a step on the way towards full AutoCoding and can in this respect point out the functional strengths and weaknesses of the CDS.
1. Provides ‘AutoCoding’ level of technical management outside the ‘integration’ scope. Concessions module and
advanced dates management only available under ACS.
2. Provides seamless upgrade without financial penalty to full AutoCoding as CDS modules function under ACS.
3. Controls only coding and scanning devices and not check-weighers, metal-detectors etc.
4. Does not integrate with ERP or planning systems.
5. Resides on a single platform without the benefits of a distributed architecture. The reduced fault tolerance
means that system availability and the audit log facility cannot be guaranteed.
6.The audit log contains only limited “production line” events.
